Club Founder started Grey Lake 10k 2025

Loughrea Athletic Club announced that the official starter for their annual Grey Lake 10k 2025 road race would be well-known and well-liked Loughrea local, Michàel O’Brien. A founding member of the club, which was established in 1968, Michàel played a significant role in its development and long-standing success. His dedication and continued support over the decades have left a lasting legacy within the club and the wider athletics community. It was a great honour to have him set participants off on the scenic 10k route around the Grey Lake, marking yet another proud moment in the club’s history.

The Loughrea Grey Lake 10km Road Race 2025 took place under AAI permit number 25/229 on Sunday, 28 September. The race, known for its scenic route around the Grey Lake, was hosted by Loughrea Athletic Club, with Temperance Hall on Barrack Street serving as race headquarters and LCRfm 102.9 broadcasting live.

The senior race started promptly at 1 pm, and the event featured AAI-approved chip timing to ensure accurate results. The race maintained its strong reputation for organisation and community spirit, drawing participants from near and far.
