Loughrea Students Win Prestigious Innovation Award at STEM Racing World Finals in Singapore

Team Increvex, a group of four female students from St Brigid’s College, Loughrea, received the BWT Alpine Formula One Innovative Thinking Award at the STEM Racing World Finals Awards Ceremony held on 1st October in Singapore. This global event, formerly known as F1 in Schools, brings together top student teams from around the world to compete in a high-level engineering challenge involving the design, construction, and racing of miniature Formula 1 cars. Team Increvex stood out among 83 international teams for their creativity and forward-thinking approach.

In a post on their Facebook page, St Brigid’s College, Loughrea wrote, “We’re incredibly proud to celebrate our STEM Racing team, Increvex. This recognition is a testament to the hard work, creativity, and dedication of Maeve, Jessica, Leoni, and Sharvi, who spent the past week competing against 82 other teams from all over the globe in the world’s largest STEM competition.”

In addition to their award win, the team was also nominated for the Women in Motorsport Award, recognising their role in promoting diversity and innovation in the world of STEM.
