Loughrea’ teen’s Alex O’Grady crowned 2026 British GB4 Champion

KMR Sport’s Alex O’Grady was crowned the 2026 GB4 champion at Brands Hatch after a fantastic season filled with consistent results and strong performances.

The Loughreaman was competing in his second season in the series and picked up three race wins, nine podiums, four fastest laps and two pole positions throughout the year. He secured the championship with his second podium of the Brands Hatch weekend, finishing the season 33 points ahead of Fred Green, who had challenged him for the title all season.

One of the biggest highlights of O’Grady’s season was his consistency. He was one of only two drivers to finish every race in 2026 and recorded 20 top-10 finishes, more than any other driver in the championship.

“It’s amazing, we’ve worked towards it all year,” a relieved O’Grady said at the end of the season. “Even going from last year into this year, I didn’t think that we’d be able to achieve that. But we’ve done it in the end, we’ve been consistent all year long, always in the top five, always scoring points as well, and the only driver in the grid to score points in every race. So it’s just been a mega job by the whole team, and I’m just so happy.”

O’Grady officially secured the title in Sunday morning’s second race. He knew before the race that finishing on the podium would be enough to guarantee the championship. However, the wait to get racing began when the start was delayed after an oil spill on the formation lap. Circuit marshals had to clean up the track before the race could get underway, adding even more tension to an already important moment.
