Denise Barrett completes World Marathon Majors

Denise Barrett has completed all five of the The World Marathon Majors (WMM) with her fantastic run at the Tokyo Marathon on Sunday, 5 March In the early hours of the morning Irish time. Denise ran superbly throughout, completing the race in 3 hours 24 minutes, as her family and fans stayed up to track her progress reported and kept it all steady and what a result and what a time she ran. ‘Everyone in Loughrea Athletic Club and Loughrea are so proud and delighted for you Denise. Huge congratulations.’

The world marathon series is a championship-style competition for marathon runners that started in 2006. A points-based competition founded on six major marathon races recognised as the most high-profile on the calendar, the series comprises annual races for the cities of Tokyo, Boston, London, Berlin, Chicago and New York. Denise has made it big in Japan.
